WaffleCon has begun! the legendary festival that begins on the 5th of every December all the way through to the 21st has hit it off with a bang and although there has been no Waffle tasting as such we were more than happy to see people making a great turnout to the events around the globe!

Here are just some of the highlights of Day 1 at WaffleCon Sheffield:

Picture Right: Here we see a happy Waffler that has been hard at working creating his/her own costume. His friend (i'm unsure of his name) allowed us to take this picture of him spreading his waffle love as long as we didnt use it against either of them! (...and we didn't!)

WaffleSong 1: If I had a Waffle

(To The Tune of 'If I had a Hammer (duh!) )

If I had a waffle, I'd Waffle in the Morning!
I'd Waffle in the Evening!, all over this land!
It's the Waffle of Syrup!, The Waffle of Sugar!
It's the waffle of the love between the butter and the jam
Al-lllll-Over this land

(Repeat for desired effect)

WaffleGuest 1: Ioan Gruffadd

I'm glad that we managed to catch up with Mr Gruffadd before the start of WaffleCon and that Ioan  managed to make the day (as he promised) because it really meant that we were in for a treat... with rumours of Ray Liotta not being able to attend because of his beard we looked forward to having a Welsh celebrity show up on the scene to show Ray up. Ioan was good enough for us to take some pics and ask him a few questions about the festival.

Davie: Ioan! thanks for letting us interview you on Day 1 of WaffleCon!, are you having a good time?
Ioan: Yeah! it's nice to be a part of WaffleCon you know, seeing all the Wafflers makes me a very happy man *smiles*
Davie: Have you... tried any of the waffles yet?
Ioan: No, I don't believe there are any waffles here today, it's the beginning of the festival so i'm doing my part finding out what the Wafflers want to see over the next 16 days
Ioan: ...Why, have you managed to get your hand on any waffles? *laughs*
Davie: *laughs along*  No Mr Gruffadd, unfortunately not!
Davie: Is it true... that in every movie you have some dedication to waffles?
Ioan: Yes! it's one of my many little dedications I do! During 'Fantastic Four' you can see that the villian clearly turns into a waffle for a brief period of time... and in the film 'Titanic' you can clearly see me 'waffling' down waffles when searching for survivors in the sea.
Davie: Truly Admirable! I hope you enjoy the rest of the day and maybe i'll get to speak to you again

WaffleRumours:

Picture Right: We have reason to believe that this year, we may get to see 'Doug The Waffle Man' creating his almighty Belguim Waffles for us! however because he is only a legend that has been going on for many centuries we believe that this year, Doug will be played by famous director 'Steven Spielberg'!.

Know Your Waffles!

If you are planning to take part in WaffleCon 2005 then you may need to get down on some of the common lingo and facts!

WaffleCon: Short for Waffle Convention, many go on to celebrate this festival every 5th - 21st December
Wafflers: Avid Waffle fans that come to WaffleCon every year
Doug The Waffle Man: The song '16 Days of WaffleCon' depict Doug to be a friendly man who delivers waffles to you on each day!
WaffleSong: A song depicting the festival WaffleCon, many famous one exist such as '12 Days of WaffleCon', 'We Three Waffles', 'If I had a Waffle', Walking in a Waffle Wonderland' etc
WaffleDance: The giant WaffleDance taken at the end of every festivul lead by Doug!

Look out for more!

WaffleGuest 2: Billy Zane

An unexpected guest this year at WaffleCon (after he tried to swim his way through all the syrup last year!). We presumed that Billy Zane was not going to make the turn out! However he did show his appretiation (sp?) to WaffleCon and said these few things.

(No idea why this picture sucks at centering!)

Davie: Billy! good to see you again!
Billy: It's always a pleasure meeting you Dave
Davie: I go by Davie now! it seems to have that effect!
Billy: Ok! Davie! I like it!
Davie: *chuckles* So.. what are you doing here? I expected they wouldn't let you back since last years ordeal
Billy: Well... i'm a paying customer and I love my waffles... are you not happy to see me back?
Davie: No! I'm really glad!
Billy: *Pulls Out Waffle* Here, I thought I might see you so I saved you this!
Davie: Thanks! May be the first I actually try in a long time!

(Please Note: WaffleCon is a fictional festival!)

I was speaking to Sean Bean today, cos I saw him in town. He said he's going to be along on day three, and that he'd give us an exclusive interview. Apparently, his mothere has some, as he describes it "bloody brilliant" waffle recipes that are really tasty because of how crunchy and sweet they are. Can't wait!!

Very Cool!

Anything brilliant enough to make Sean say 'Bloody' must be bloody good! I'll look forward to those!

I've actually had WaffleMan waffles. They're delicious! Even Spielberg couldn't mess them up! Not even by adding tripods.

Holy crap! That cartoon of the waffleman is by Paul Fell for the WaffleMan here in Lincoln! He lives right by me! I had no idea there is only one Waffle Man, and he lives right by me. I'm so honored!!

:o Wow, they're some pretty strange coincedinces!... does he actually look kinda like Steven Spielberg in real life? :p

yeah, he really does. He has a strange habit of saying "wabbleup!" whenever a waffle is ready. It's like an odd, yet delicious, factory floor.

You'll have to nonchalantly and inconspicously get us a picture of him! :P Or you could go the whole hog, and get a picture and a signature for some British fans of Doug the Waffleman!

:P

next time I see a Doug the Waffleman event, I'll see about doing just that! Keep the faith and pass the syrup!

I shall have a Waffle soon in homage to WaffleCon. Fictional festivals are my pride and joy. I have to get my pole ready for the 23rd also.
