This is my second Thanksgiving holiday that I've been able to celebrate and I have a lot to be thankful for. This time last year I posted very little about Thanksgiving besides a few days before when I got to go out with Vince to eat Cici's before watching Quantum of Solace at the cinema- hopefully he'll stop on by today after he's had his thanksgiving dinner for a little bit more eating! I love this holiday... you can eat and eat and nobody complains. (That being said- nobody complains anyway when I eat and eat to my hearts content, very rarely does that happen ^_^ )
Also, this is going to be my first thanksgiving being engaged and that's already an exciting prospect. I'm very lucky to have found Katherine and I know we'll always look out for each other :) I'm also terribly excited to start blogging about our trials and tribulations as well as all the marvellous and wonderful adventures we'll have together. (I wish I could have tried to capture all the wondrous times we've had to date- like our encounter with Topol!!) I have the most remarkable woman in my life and I just can't wait! *excited face*
This year I can't help but have the biggest smile on my face when I walk downstairs and see Misty chasing all the other dogs on "The Dog Show"... I think it was my Dad that thought the dog how to chase other animals whenever adverts would come on English tv during Eastenders, Coronation Street, Saturday Night Takeaway and that whole lot! He'd say with excitement "What's on tv?!" and eventually she caught on to what the actual tv is. Now whenever anyone mentions the word "TV" she'll go insane and look for the nearest television set even if it's on or off. Once this day is over I can finally look forward to thinking about Christmas- I get really excited whenever I see adverts for sales or holiday special episodes of television shows that I know it's edging closer. One of more snazzy things about the Christmas holidays is there are plenty of opportunities for Seasonal jobs! Michael (Katherine's brother) coined the term for our proposal "Phase 1" and ever since Katherine told me it's stuck with us... I'm applying around for Seasonal jobs and working extra hours at my current job so that we can earn more money to reach our phases and goals.
Now off to help thanksgiving processes and to listen to Ronan's Christmas album. :)

I've got about 40 minutes to write and post this entry before it's no longer November 18th. I don't want to give my wishes out a day after so I better get writing quick (I know what you're thinking- 40 minutes to write a post?? believe me I'm easily distracted and find myself often... SQUIRREL!). Doing my last year of University on-line and overseas meant that I'm not technically in the same class as my old classmates but as a very happy David Stenton informed me on facebook... today was there graduation.I remember much of our spare time was spent in Chinese restaurants, Chiquitos, Subway, Starbucks, the cinema, knocking on my window waking me up for lectures and in HMV & Virgin Megastores
So classmates... congrats Lewis, Adam, Gibbo, Dwyer and of course, Stenton. I never managed to keep in touch with the rest of the class. Rymvidas and Xie- whether or not you graduated will forever remain a mystery to me but I hope you two do well whatever the case may be. ^_^ Lastly, Good luck to Aaron who'll be doing his retakes this year. Cheers

On Friday, April the 24th I submitted a blog post entitled "Can't Stop Feeling" where I discussed the differences between the English and American way of telling the time after a roudy discussion with Vince and Izzy. I would like to retract this post! Since then I believe I've taught some Americans the way of time telling and they certainly write to me now rather than just writing me. They put u's in their favourites and pronounce it "zebrah" (I have audible proof of the latter). Anyway... American... English... as long as we're not French then I'm a happy Davie.
United States of America... consider this an apology... do you accept? (waiting for Barack Obama, an avid reader of my journal to comment on this post)

So this will be my first thanksgiving stateside and therefore my first thanksgiving evarrr! Last year I was back in the UK for a bit so missed out on turkeys and such and most likely spent the day at Chiquitos asking Gibbo if he preffered the waitress over Tina (waitress!)
Although my schedule isn't going to be any different today I've tried to explain to a few people some of the holidays we have in England rather than thanksgiving, namely Bonfire Night. I could've explained it a little better- a day when we make a little man out of straw and burn him on a fire does sound sort of unbelieveable and similar to something straight out of The Wicker Man (which is even more like Eyam where they now burn a giant wooden rat). Remember remember the 5th of November and all that jazz.
Even though I don't quite know the tradition of thanksgiving I get to relax and have some lazy time off work which is pretty sweet considering I have to be up at 3am for work tomorrow. (I see no point in sleeping to be honest) Heck I didn't even know a 3am existed!
Speaking of new experiences I got to try a place called Cici's pizza with Vince and Raquel which people say is delicious. Now don't get me wrong, I like pizza but not in that quantity- it's the same premise as the pizza hut buffet in which you have your third slice and you feel terribly sick. It was at this point they tried to feed me macaroni and cheese pizza which didn't sit well with me and I didn't even eat it!
All turned out alright though, I didn't hurl and we got to meet up with the very loverly Alex at city walk to see Bond (although I swear the last time I saw that movie I saw Daniel Craig's arse... Where did it go?)
At any rate, wish me luck for tomorrow. I'll snap piccies.
Cheers!

I don't see why guys can't go together to see films like Made of Honour?! Does it come off as gay if we all sit in a dark room and watch a movie that has some kind of romantic plot in it? It's not like watching Patrick Dempsey makes me want to snog the guy who is sat next to me! I like Patrick as of late... with every episode of Grey's Anatomy I watch as well as seeing Enchanted I can't help but thinking 'yeah he's a good actor' So forgive me if I want to see this movie!
Iron Man had one thing that Made of Honour probably wouldn't have... (as well as guns, superheroes, gwyneth paltrow, cheesy stan lee cameos) and that's a new Indy trailer! Which was rather exciting despite just being a mish-mash of random clips! I can't help but feel excited that this film, which I have been looking forward to for the past five years (ever since I told Alex Hemsley that they were gonna make a fourth movie in Y10 Maths) is out in twenty days! Twenty days! with sleep that's like two weeks! and with all the time eating food that's like 10 days! Weekends of course make it like 6 days! Not to mention the time I'm gonna be playing GTA... that's like 3 days away! and of course showering... gonna feel about 20 minutes away!

Anyways I was in the shower trying to think of a a few 'best of's' I could put on here that really defined 2007... I couldn't really think of many so maybe I'll have another shower and think of some more.
Shine - Take That
I've been an absolute spastic for this song and whenever I hear it I feel the urge to jump around and dance all happy and shiny. Take That have been my guilty pleasure and I'm sure they'll continue to be through to 2008.
Other songs that have been 'eeee awesome'
Same Mistake - James Blunt
Whistle For The Choir - The Fratellis
Elevate Myself - Grandaddy
Against All Odds - The Postal Service
I know the latter was released in 2004 however it was only discovered when my friend Alex sent it to me this year and ever since myself and Steve lurved it.
Best Album of 2007
All The Lost Souls - James Blunt
It's only been three months since this album was released but I am deepy in love with every song on it. It got a lot of stick from people but I personally don't have a problem with it... and neither does Dwyre! It's a shame he isn't touring near anywhere I am... i'll take that as a sign Mr Blunt!
Other rockin' albums
Another Side - John Barrowman (booyah!)
Twelve Stops and Home - The Feeling
Back To Black - Amy Winehouse
Beautiful World - Take That
Stardust
This movie rocked, I saw it a whopping three times in the cinema (as I went with three different groups of people) and enjoyed it everytime. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel jubilant and ineffible. Plus Rupert Everett was in it! It's funny and gay
Little Miss Sunshine
Smokin' Aces
Sunshine
Best Tv Show of 2007
Brothers & Sisters
Every episode of Brothers & Sisters was like a movie packed into 45 minutes and it was bee-you-ti-full! Some episodes made me awfully happy where as some episodes made the feel the opposite. I like that! It makes a nice change from all the action and sci-fi
Tv Classsss
The Big Bang Theory
The Sarah Silverman Program
The second half of Lost
Boston Legal
Best Documentary Tv in 2007
Meerkat Manor
You know how lame you are when you have a 'Best Documentary' section on your website... but these needed to go somewhere. I fsckin' love Meerkat Manor! For a solid thirty minutes I have the biggest smile on my face (unless something goes horribly wrong in the manor :( )
Only one other documentary style tv show I loved in 2007 and that was 'Long Way Down' which just plain rawked!
Finally, Best Joke about a microwave 2007

Anyway as Luke was coming back from University he decided to postpone our regular cinema trip which would occur on Friday to Saturday... alas... a very dull and java related Friday I had! (I did do laundry though!!! )
Nevertheless I met up with the previously mentioned along with Kinnear, Steve (
Eventually we ended up seeing Death at a Funeral which was good... although perhaps Ian and Kinnear enjoyed it far more than they should have! I slid down in my seat a few times knowing that people in the cinema could hear their booming laugh even though the film itseld wasn't being funny.
Anyway I've just come back from town where I got some food and nipped into Waterstones to get a Java book for my course... however as we saw yesterday this book was too good to miss.... but by god how I love Meerkat Manor! Anyway there is a lot of Java to be cracking on with and little Half-Life 2 to be playing! (unlike last night)
EDIT: so yeah the picture is all messed up and is out of place on my livejournal but you're gonna have to deal with it!. I can't be bothered to move it around the post!

From the creators of NYPD Blue

(I don't like the show... I just like the guy on the box!)
Comes the hit new show... and you'll love the title!
K-VILLE!

Basically, K is on the loose and a group of highly trained ninja people must track him down before he comes into contact with the guy from NYPD Blue. Something like that... I turned the TV off! But it's called K-VILLE!

The Early Tapton Years - Mark (
The Later Tapton Years - My LJ Prime! My day to day routines were no longer described that often in LJ but instead there were more anecdotes about finding waffles, christmas waffles and Mr Gee's! Also came a surge of journals from people we knew!!
The Uni Years - After tapton I really couldn't be bothered to update so much because there was never anything interesting to discuss! I started using my titles and if I was really unimaginative a post would consist of just a YouTube video!
Now, none of our personal friends post anymore! It's just Myself and Steve for the win!

So there's only two days left before I leave to America and I've started packing all my belongings! It's been a weird week and although I've had fun saying goodbye to people (and missed out on saying goodbye to even more people) I can be rest assured that I have the interwebs to keep in touch with people. Everybody has changed over the past year and I've liked that change! ...well for most people anyway and I'm gonna miss the Sheffield crew especially who I'm used to seeing most days! Including Teh Steve (

Only one more exam left (wow... I remember posting not that long ago about how I was just settling in to Uni) which is math... and seeing how math isn't my favourite subject it means I'll have to do some harder revision (that said... this is pretty simple stuff!) but nevertheless this semester has been pretty short... sometimes hectic but most of all... ok!
If you look to your left you'll see Adam wearing a Stargate Atlantis *pukes* Tee shirt (aaron's) because he lost bowling... and that was his forfit! What a silly silly boy!

So... the other day me, Luke and Lew (Unfortunately they had no chinchillas and even if they did they would have cost me £75 so one of those would have been out of the question... we moved on to rats and apparently they need massive cages so they were also out of the question... they also had no Chipmunks and even though they needed a massive cage it would have been worth it!
So lastly we moved onto hamsters and came ccross the Dwarf Hamster cages. Two babies hamsters were sleeping in the corner and the other one was trying to gnaw it's way out of the cage so we took a look at that one!.
Needless to say, we picked up that one and the "Astro 2" cage (Astro 3 was there but that was just too big!) and carted it home to show Kinnear (my flat-mate) All was good and I christened her Shakira! Alas I came home for the day so whether or not she's in good hands with Kinnear is anybodies guess!

So i've been having the busiest week in the history of doing stuff... and I thought I'd get it easy after last weeks assignments and interviews we had! I can't really complain because most of the week has generally been busy hanging around with people and doing stuff.Monday (after the longest day at University all week- including a progress check as boring as sin) saw the very first Poker Night where we played for money (a £5 buy in). We got a few first-timers as well including Lewis (
Luckily for me I came third and won my money back however I coulda come first (K) or second (Adam and Phil) and won some profit (even if Adam only won £2.50). Afterwards Lewis made us (well... me because he fell asleep) watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I chose the episode that had John Ritter in! (because John Ritter rocks!).
Tuesday was a pretty funky day because I got to finally visit Noodle Inn (much to Adam's recommendation) so Me, himself, Steve (
Afterwards, Me, Steve and Aaron came back to my flat and (this was about 8pm) and in a show of geeky-ness... (mainly driven by the fact it was the last Stargate episode ever... ugh Stargate) we talked about sci-fi and tv shows/Indiana Jones until the epic time of 3 o'clock in the morning.
The very next day... myself and Steve trekked down to town where I had a Simon Andrews lecture sometime in the early morning (not too early to be fair!) and due to Lewis not wanting to go home early we lingered around afterwards in the hope that Steve would call. After grabbin' a Subway we went to Centertainment and decided to have a couple of games of bowling (I came second in the first round and last in the second) but it was Lewis that made the comeback from third in the first round and first in the last!.
Afterwards we went to see Norbit because there was nothing else on..... *sigh*.... but I did convice Aaron to have a Core Sunday so that's a win for me! I reckon Steve will be the next one due to the fact that he was going to get one last time and they're so darn tasty!

So yeah... I realised I had done something exciting this past week... and going to Pizza Hut is not exciting! (No that's a lie, it's always exciting!) but I did get my regular late night visit from Mr Hayden which Mark (Besides that- next week (Probably Wednesday or Thursday) I move in with Alex which is pretty exciting as far as things go! I'll be sure to take photos so you can admire our very own living room and our very own kitchen and all that jazz. You can tell Adam didn't really care...
Me: We're soon going to be neighbours!
Adam: Good for you
Me: No... Good for you!
Generally things are going pretty well! Although we haven't got our final results for this semester, Me, Adam and Lewis (
